Le Poisson Rouge is my new favorite music venue and makes me happy to live where we do once again. There is seating across the entire floor with a full bar menu and a two item minimum per table. We sat in silence, Rory across from us, and Allison grabbing me every few minutes because something amazing was happening on stage: visual projections, lush sounds, adorable persons.

Not to mention that Allison was accosted (in a friendly, happy way) by a small dog on the sidewalk, and the fact that we did that pre-show, hanging out conspicuously spying on the talent as he smoked outside the venue. We were "vintage shopping", okay?

Okay.

bad diary days

I have been brain dead for almost a week, now. Something happened last week, after a few days of lost sleep and intense work productivity, my brain SNAPPED SHUT and hasn't reopened for business since.

photobooth tuesday black and white

We had a whirlwind weekend of a wedding and a craft fair... and in the midst of that I pulled a muscle in my neck (loading craft fair stuff to the car, I think), lost my wallet with everything important inside, and generally fell to pieces. I would say I need a holiday but I have spent enough time sleeping this off to say that maybe even a holiday wouldn't work. I guess its the natural ebb and flow of things to sometimes be up and sometimes be down. I'm feeling like this low is nothing short of comical with the amount of trouble I'm having just doing normal things. Words are jumping out at me and rearranging themselves into other words. I'm mishearing the English language, forgetting to eat lunch, and totally blanking on people's names. I wonder if this what its like to be senile, or maybe I should be on an episode of House.

Tonight we are going to see BenoƮt Pioulard at Le Poisson Rouge. He has been a favorite in our apartment for a long time. Rory has some polaroids from him. I can't wait for the show.

With the change of seasons, I've found respite in life away from the Internet. I'm trying to force myself back to Earth, but relishing in a change of pace in the meantime. I have a lot of work to do for the upcoming Craft Mafia event this weekend, and Rory and I have also been trying to get out and explore the Great Outdoors. Just this weekend, Rory and I went for a jog in 80-degree sunshine in Liberty State Park, grabbed delicious Indian food in Journal Square, and spent more time than we meant to with friends. I missed a few of my obligations because we timed things poorly, but it was still really nice to spend the weekend together.

I am feeling great lately. This is such a nice change from the consistently cold, miserable weather we've had otherwise!

Mausen and Scout at Work

At work, we are finishing a few big projects and I'm tackling a change of guard in a few key areas of our business development. Everything has been ramping up and taking off, and our hard work is paying off. Its a really nice feeling all around.

The photo above was taken from my new Blackberry Storm. Those are my coworkers, Scout and Mausen, relaxing on some shipping materials from print materials I designed. Having a Blackberry is a totally new experience for me, and it is contributing to my overall sense of "having it together". I love it!

Getting ready for Art Attack!

feather button hair combs

So, I painstakingly spent my Saturday afternoon getting high on epoxy fumes and losing track of time as I carefully placed guinea hen feathers and buttons on bridal hair combs. Though I also made a few headbands, my focus was held by the subtle differences between downy under-feathers and larger plumes, the way the light catches a small red button held against a giant black one. It was glorious.

Thankfully, I also had an amazing night out both Friday and Saturday to counter-balance all of this hardcore craft-nerd time.

I plan to bring these with me to the April 26th Art Attack in Jersey City, so if you are interested you are just going to have to pay me a visit! Check out the craft mafia web site for more info on the craft fair.
