resolution

So, its been about half a month since the New Year started, and I’ve got plans to keep my resolutions. I have a few projects that I’ve been planning on starting–some for years, now. I also have personal stuff I’d love to clear up, but sometimes those things can be overwhelming. I think the secret is to make a game plan and then break it up into tiny little kitten steps. The end result will far outweigh whatever trouble it takes you to get there.

I’m trying to trick myself into being productive and happy, even when things feel impossible and seem to be a lot of work. A friend and I were looking up flights to London earlier in the week. We thought we had found a cheap escape, but then it turned out that taxes would drive the cost up beyond our budget. It was nice for one afternoon to think about passport photos, and what to pack. Rory and I have been psuedo-planning a trip to Berlin next year, as well. I think these dream plans are a good way to get myself together enough to pay off my credit cards and figure out a way to make things happen.

Doug Aitken exhibit at MoMa.

Allison and I took the PATH into Manhattan last night after work to view the opening night of the Doug Aitken film exhibit, Sleepwalkers at MoMa. The piece consisted of five short films on loop and in synch with one another, projected onto the walls of the museum in a way that is free and open to the public. It was a nice (ice cold) night.

I’m helping my sister design a marketing scheme for her exercise classes. She teaches Spinning class at a few different gyms in town, and she’s really awesome. Hoping to get more cool kids to come work out with her!

This project made me miss putting together zines. I was recently asked why I haven’t done one in a while, and the answer is — I just don’t know.

I’ve been pretty busy lately, and not that productive, so I’m trying to change that. The nice thing about lugging a camera around with you is that you get to take random pictures of things as the moment strikes: hidden cupboards and passing tree lines.

I have been severely slacking in the Blogger department. Please pardon my absence, as my grandmother passed away and I’ve been pretty ill as well.

2007 promises to be a great year, so stay glued to your computer screens, kids.
