Sneak Preview

Here is a quick sketch of what my album cover is going to look like. Kevin is working with two polaroids and a typewriter to create the final project.

This will be folded in half as a 3″ CD-r cover. The text on the right (the front cover) will be typed with a typewriter. The back cover text will be typed onto a sheet of paper, cut out and pasted in place like a photocopied zine.

Meanwhile, Rory and I collaborated on a website for Monotone Records and the shell of the new site (completely in draft form) can be found here. Rory gets all of the programming and tweaking credit. I get the “translating Kevin’s thoughts into a working design” credits. Very much unfinished, but I think it will be really nice in the end.

Two inspiring things today.

Sarah gave me this tie and I wore it to the church today.

An interview with Kevin Huelbig about Monotone Records. My upcoming release is mentioned, as are several things about Ryan Doyle and his boyfriend the photographer.

My sister Sarah and I attended a performance of Mozart’s Requiem at a local church around the corner. The church was completely awe-inspiring, and though the chorale should have perhaps been mic’d, it was a wonderful experience. Between movements of the requiem, members of the community read famous passages of prose about Peace. Lovely sentiments below a painted starlit cathedral. Every Sunday should be so rewarding.

Sometimes the best place to record an album is inside a tiled room. For a soundtrack to these pictures click here, and listen to the first song. Its an old one, but lovely just the same.
